PolarPro LightLeak lens set gives your shots a retro analogue feel

Speaking of brands stepping on the toes of Lensbaby and Lomography, Samyang isn’t the only one encroaching on their territory. PolarPro, too, now has an analogue retro-style lens for mirrorless cameras. It’s called the PolarPro LightLeak. And as the name suggests, it adds light leak effects to your images.
The PolarPro LightLeak is available in three different focal lengths of 16mm, 28mm and 50mm with fixed f/11 aperture and fixed focus. It’s also available for a range of different mirrorless mounts, including Canon RF, Fuji X, Nikon Z and Sony E.
PolarPro Lightleak – Timeless Nostalgia
It’s interesting to see companies known for their high quality descend into the depths of the imperfect lenses in photography’s past. It’s like they’re trying to perfect imperfection in a way. But the looks such lenses produce is often quite interesting and unique.
Polarpro’s LightLeak lenses are no exception to this. With an adjustable light leak effect, it can be as strong or as weak as you like. And it results in some pretty dreamy looking photos and footage.
The three lenses are all fixed focal length and fixed focus distance from 1m to infinity (3m to infinity on the 50mm). This means you’re essentially using them just like you would a point-and-shoot lens. This means no aperture or focus adjustments to worry about.
It’s an interesting-looking set of lenses that makes interesting-looking footage. It’s not going to be to everyone’s tastes, and even those who like it won’t use them to shoot everything. If these were ever released in a Micro Four Thirds mount, I’d even consider getting some myself for a couple of video projects.
Price and Availability
The PolarPro LightLeak lenses are available to buy now for $129.99 each in 16mm, 28mm or 50mm focal lengths in Sony E, Canon RF, Nikon Z and Fuji X mounts. The set of three focal lengths is available to buy for $349.99.
