We’d all love a Leica, however, most of us don’t love the Leica price tag that comes with it! But don’t worry, now you can create the authentic “shot with a Leica” look with the brand new Leica Lux app.
The website claims that this is the “first ever professional photo app from a camera manufacturer” and will let you capture the iconic Leica look with your smartphone.
The app will let you choose between different photo and portrait modes and allow you to choose from several of Leica’s most popular lenses, precisely recreated on your phone. These include the Noctilux-M 50mm f/1.2, Summilux-M 28mm f/1.4 and Summilux-M 35mm f/1.4. The app also provides regular updates with new lens simulations, while its software engine enhances your photos with Leica’s signature aesthetic bokeh (fake bokeh effect in other words).
Additionally, all photos shot through the app can be captured in ProRAW, meaning that you’ll be able to edit and post-process the photos to your heart’s content. The app offers an array of adjustment filters that harken back to the classic Leica looks that are so well known. There are eleven distinct looks to choose from: Leica Classic, Contemporary, Black & White, or Vivid.
But don’t get too excited just yet, the Leica Lux app is currently only available for iPhone users. However, the good news is that it’s free to download from the Apple app store, with in-app purchases. Still, if you can afford a brand-new iPhone 15 Pro Max, you can probably afford the real Leica!
