Hollyland has announced the new VenusLiv V2 streaming camera ($949). The follow-up to the company’s original Hollyland VenusLiv, first shown off at NAB 2023, offers some nice upgrades, including one-tap streaming, to be able to go live as quickly as possible.

Built specifically for live streaming, it features built-in WiFi, as well as Ethernet for wired network connections. It runs on dual-band 2.4/5GHz technology for a smooth and consistent connection. And for really long streams, its aluminium design, the company says, allows it to run 24/7.

Hollyland VenusLiv V2 – Streaming in a box

Live streaming and Facetime-style video chats have become commonplace now. Their popularity was already growing before the plague shut the world down and gave us no choice but to adopt them. Forced adoption or not, the situation we’re in now means that more companies are releasing higher-end streaming and video conferencing cameras.

Gone are the days of Microsoft and Logitech beating it out for the ultra-low-res-not-even-as-good-as-a-2010-cellphone-camera webcams. Now we’ve got high-tech 4K cameras that follow us, live switching devices to bounce between multiple cameras, and now all-in-one streaming cameras like the VenusLiv V2.

Hollyland VenusLiv 2

The Hollyland VenusLiv V2 is designed for both live streaming to platforms like Twitch, YouTube and social media, as well as video chatting in Zoom, Skype, or whatever you prefer. It features built-in curves adjustments so you can tweak the image coming out of the camera and even balance cameras to more closely match each other.

It’s certainly designed for more serious users. At $949, it’s not intended for first-timers who only want to Facetime with grandma. But for power users who need maximum control with solid reliability, especially in a permanent studio location, it looks very interesting.

Of course, there are other solutions out there, and I think I’d probably go a slightly different route myself. But my needs are not everyone’s needs. This will almost certainly be the ideal solution for many – especially studios, educators, YouTubers, etc.

Price and Availability

The Hollyland VenusLiv V2 is available to pre-order now for $949. Shipping is expected to begin in the coming weeks.
